What You Will See
Our walking safaris traverse beautiful landscapes that tell the story of a turbulent geologic past alongside the Rift Valley. Archeological artifacts like flints, shards, graves and pottery litter the ground, evidence of an equally rich cultural history.
The wildlife in our part of Laikipia distinguishes the area for its diversity of large mammals, the greatest in Kenya. Elephants, the big cats, and other large predators thrive along side endangered species like the Grevy's Zebra, Wilddogs and Highland Hartebeest.
Conservation and Community
Our interest in walking safaris and adventure was sowed along with our interest in ecology and conservation. Since conservation and people are inherently linked, we have actively supported the communities we work in by employing local people, paying conservation fees to the local communities, providing dry season grazing and helping to educate some needy students. Tumaren, our private conservation area in the Laikipia region of Kenya, is dedicated exclusively to the conservation of wildlife. Since we began protecting it, Tumaren has rebounded spectacularly and we are immensely proud of the protection our safaris are able afford for the benefit of our animals.
Meet Our Guides
We love natural history and it shows in our guiding.
We see plenty of big game on our walking safaris but we also catch a lot of sights that the gamedrive vehicles zoom right past. Tracking was always a large part of the human experience. With our Ndorobo trackers, we work hard to keep that tradition alive, scouring the ground for signs of game. Culture is an added dimension to our walks and we are all keenly aware to remind our visitors of our human history which began right beneath our feet.
